Hosting an event

Any registered account can create and host a board game night. Go to Events → New event to get started.

Setting up

Give your event a title, optional date, and location.
Add games to the shortlist from your BGG collection — by default the picker shows games that fit your player count (your guest list plus you).
Untick Filter games by player count in the Add games section to browse your whole collection instead. Use it for a night with several tables running at once, where no single game seats everyone. It changes what your guests see when they suggest games too, so you are both looking at the same collection.
Add guests by name or pick from your Crew (people you've played games with on BGG). The box says Filter crew or add by name…: it narrows your own Crew, and any other name you type is added as a new guest. It does not search Deshelved for people.
For households attending together, add a guest then use Add a dependent → to link a second person whose availability is managed by the first (they still vote independently).
Enable Allow anyone to join if you want guests to add themselves without being pre-listed.
Use Join as host → next to the Share button to participate yourself — mark your availability and vote alongside your guests.

Running the vote

Open voting when the shortlist is ready. This activates the guest link.
Share the link — Share, next to the guest link, opens your phone's share menu, or copies the link on a device without one. Guests can join without an account, and the link shows an invitation card when you paste it into a chat.
The invite link can't be changed once it exists. That's deliberate: replacing it would break every invitation you'd already sent.
You'll see live vote counts and availability in the editor as responses come in.
Close voting when everyone has voted. Results are revealed to guests at that point.

Picking a date

The availability section shows which days the majority of your group can make it.
Days where everyone is free show a Set as event date → button.
Setting the date hides the availability calendar and displays the date in the event header.

Game suggestions

Guests can suggest games from their own collection. Suggestions appear in the editor under Pending approval — approve or reject them before they go on the shortlist.
