deshelved is available as a native mobile app so you can bring your collection, votes, and play log to game night without needing a browser.

Android

The Android app is currently in closed beta on Google Play. Beta testers get early access to new features and can help shape the app before the public launch.

To join the beta, visit deshelved.com and sign up in the Mobile App section. You'll need a Gmail address (used to add you to the Google Play beta programme); a BoardGameGeek username is optional (add it to import your collection, or add games directly in the app without it). Once approved you'll receive an email with a link to install the app.

iOS

Deshelved for iOS is on the App Store. Search for Deshelved, or install it directly from the App Store listing. The App Store version is the same app as the web — sign in with the account you already use, or create one on first launch.

On a weak connection

A patchy Wi-Fi or mobile signal often stays technically connected while barely passing any data — the sort of link that used to leave the app spinning. deshelved now gives up on a slow request rather than waiting on it: it tries once more, then shows your events, collection, or play log from the copy saved on your device, with a Slow connection marker in the menu bar (when you're signed in) so you know what you're looking at may be a little out of date. Everything refreshes on its own once the connection recovers.

If your Wi-Fi is consistently worse than your mobile signal, Android can switch you over automatically — Settings → Network & internet → Internet → Network preferences → Switch to mobile data automatically. An app isn't allowed to change that for you, but this setting does exactly what you'd want.
