Voting & results
How voting works
Each player rates every game on the shortlist:
- WANT — you'd love to play this (+1)
- OK — fine either way (0)
- PASS — you'd rather not (−1)
Scoring
A game's score is the number of WANT votes minus the number of PASS votes. Games are ranked by score — highest wins. If two games tie on score, the one with more WANT votes ranks higher.
When results are revealed
- Guests see results once they have rated every game on the shortlist. You can also tap See results at any point after your first vote. Until then the tally stays hidden, so early responses cannot influence later ones.
- The host sees live results in the editor at all times.
- Once the host closes voting, results are visible to everyone regardless of whether they voted.
Saving and updating votes
There is no submit button. Each rating is saved the moment you tap it, and the line under the grid confirms it — Saving…, then ✓ Saved automatically. You can leave the page whenever you like.
You can change your votes at any time while the event is open; the change saves the same way and the summary recalculates immediately.
If a vote cannot be saved — patchy signal, usually — the card says Not saved, the button goes back to what it was before, and a Retry appears under the grid. Nothing is stored until it succeeds, so what you see on the cards is always what the server has.
Seeing the latest activity
While voting is open, event pages refresh themselves every 30 seconds. To pull the latest in straight away — including on a draft or closed event, where nothing refreshes on its own — swipe down from the top of the page on a phone or tablet, or tap the ↻ button in the header (next to Results in the event editor).
A refresh updates the whole page: votes, the guest list, the game shortlist and the availability calendar. It is ignored while a pop-up is open, or while a vote is still being saved, so it can never discard what you were in the middle of.
