Updates
Everything that has shipped, newest first, alongside articles on how it all works. Each release is dated to the day it actually went live — most recently on 16 August 2026.
Deshelved has been shipping since 13 June 2026. Releases before 15 July 2026 predate the Android app, so they carry no version number.
Expansions on your game cards + a smoother slow connection
Version 1.29 ·
- Flip a game card over and you'll now find a tab for each expansion you own, with its own rulebook, cheat sheet and rules chat — tap Find PDF on an expansion to go looking for its rulebook.
- On a weak signal Deshelved no longer sits there spinning: it gives up on a slow request, shows your saved copy of your events, collection or play log, and flags a Slow connection. Everything refreshes once the signal recovers.
Faster play logging + account security
Version 1.28 ·
- Logging a play: the game picker now shows your whole collection straight away — no more "1 player" filter hiding most of your games.
- Security: sign out of all other devices from Settings, and changing your password now signs you out everywhere else automatically.
Location autofill for the play log
Version 1.27 ·
- Turn on Location autofill in Settings and the play log fills in your location from your device automatically — matched to places you've logged before, with no address lookups.
- Privacy-first: your exact position is never stored. Only a rounded coordinate is kept, and you choose how coarse — 100 m, 500 m or 1 km.
Borrow a crew member's collection — now for game nights too
Version 1.26 ·
- Borrow a crew member's collection even if they don't use BoardGameGeek. Set it in Settings → Shared collection, and now you can add their games to an event and everyone can vote on them.
- Add someone to your crew by email or BGG username, and they'll link up automatically when they sign up — no more duplicate or unlinked crew members.
- Editing a crew member now saves and closes in one tap.
Crew leaderboards + build a collection without BGG
Version 1.25 ·
- Flip a play to its stats card and switch to "+ Crew's" to compare your scores with your crew's — especially solo scores, since everyone's solo plays live in their own account. Only crew you've mutually added, who share their stats, appear.
- Privacy: your play stats (plays, win rate, best score) are shared with your mutual crew by default so leaderboards work out of the box. Don't want that? Turn sharing off any time in Settings → Privacy.
- You no longer need a BoardGameGeek account to have a collection — tap Add and search to build one directly. Linking BGG still imports your owned games (one-way); games you add or remove in Deshelved show an "Add/Remove on BGG" link so you can update BGG in one tap.
- Share your collection without a BGG account too — the Share button now gives everyone a public link (older BGG-username links keep working).
Smarter stats + full-history play search
Version 1.24 ·
- On a game's stats card, filter by player count (Solo / 2 / 3…) to see how a game plays solo versus in a full group — handy for games that feel very different at different counts.
- Your play-log search and game/player filters now cover your entire history, not just your most recent plays — so older matches are no longer missed.
Save your BGG password + smoother syncing
Version 1.23 ·
- Save your BoardGameGeek password (optional) — if you've been away for a while and your BGG sign-in has expired, syncing keeps working without asking you to type your password again. It's stored encrypted, and you can remove it anytime in Settings.
- Renaming yourself in your account now updates your play history and BoardGameGeek plays to match, instead of leaving them under your old name.
- Fixed syncing a play you'd copied from another player's game night — the Sync button now works instead of silently reverting.
Clearer game-night pages
Version 1.22 ·
- The guest page now guides you through it — pick your dates, then vote on games — in clearly separated, colour-coded sections
- Vote cards now match your collection and show who suggested each game, their rating, and which ones you've already played
- Tidier date picker — clearer month arrows, and swipe to move between months
- Assorted layout and polish across the event and guest pages
Update-link fix
Version 1.21 ·
- Fixed the in-app “update available” notification so it opens the Play Store correctly instead of a blank screen
- Assorted fixes and polish
Clearer game descriptions
Version 1.20 ·
- Every game now has a short summary on its card — expand it for a detailed write-up, drawn from the rulebook when one can be found
- Fixed guest invite links that opened a broken page when shared from the app
- When a rulebook is found for a description, it now also powers the quick-reference cheat sheet automatically
- Assorted fixes and polish
Easier event joining
Version 1.19 ·
- Join a game night from any device — reclaim your name, sign in to your account, or switch if you tapped the wrong name by mistake
- Expansions now show their real recommended player counts (e.g. Flamme Rouge + Peloton) instead of just the maximum
- Clearer player-count filter — an “8+” option and a tidier layout that fits small screens
- Assorted fixes and polish
Easier onboarding & tidier crew
Version 1.18 ·
- Add your BoardGameGeek username right at sign-up to import your collection straight away — with clearer prompts while it syncs
- Crew: tap “That's me” to claim a synced player as yourself, and pick from your existing tags & locations instead of retyping
- You're warned before renaming a crew member changes their name in your public BoardGameGeek play history
- Fixes: the edit-play dialog now scrolls on small screens, plus tidier Settings and Crew layouts
Discover games faster
Version 1.17 ·
- See your whole crew's shelves — add a friend by their BoardGameGeek username and their collection syncs in automatically
- Big collections load as they sync — games stream in instead of making you wait for the whole list
- Tap a category or mechanic on any game to instantly filter the collection to matching games
- Expanded game cards now show every category and mechanic, with a “+N more” hint when there's more to see
- You'll now be told when an app update is available, and see what's new after you upgrade
- Cleaner play cards and assorted polish
Sign-in & display fixes
Version 1.16 ·
- Passkey sign-in now works in the Android app
- Fixed the top menu bar overlapping the status bar
- The app version now shows at the bottom of Settings
